This statistic presents the distribution of cyber stalking victims in 2013, by how the victim's case was resolved. According to cases handled by cyber harassment support group WHOA, 25 percent of victims' cases were referred to law enforcement authorities.
Ways in which reported cyber stalking cases were resolved in 2013
Figures do not reflect WHOA's total caseload (50-75 cases per week). Data is based on complete questionnaires filled out by victims. The majority of the organization's cases are based in the United States.
*WHOA (Working to Halt Online Abuse) contacted ISP, web admin/host or victim changed username, email address, profile, options, or preferences.
**Either the harassment stopped, victim took WHOA's advice, or email bounced (which meant the victim changed their email address).
