Power equipment receives the greatest investments out of all smart grids componnets worldwide. In 2019, 123 billion U.S. dollars of a total of 271 billion U.S. dollars spent that year on smart grids went towards power equipment. Smart meter investments amounted to 21 billion U.S. dollars.
