DuPont's revenue 2015-2023
The chemical company DuPont generated over 12 billion U.S. dollars of revenue in 2023. DuPont, with the full name E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, is a renowned U.S.-based chemical company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. Founded in 1802, DuPont has grown to become one of the largest and most influential companies in the chemical industry.
DuPont’s global presence
In 2017, DuPont underwent a significant transformation when it merged with Dow Chemical to form DowDuPont. This conglomerate existed until 2019, when it split into three separate entities: Dow, DuPont, and Corteva. Despite these changes, DuPont has continued to thrive, consistently maintaining revenue above 10 billion U.S. dollars throughout this period. The Asia Pacific region, in particular, has been a significant contributor to this success, accounting for more than 5.1 billion U.S. dollars of the company's revenue in 2023. DuPont maintains a strong global presence with 104 manufacturing sites worldwide. Although 51 of these sites are based in the United States and Canada, the remaining 53 are spread across the Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East & Africa, reflecting DuPont's status as a key player in the global chemical industry.
Research and development
DuPont's commitment to research and development is evident in its substantial annual investments, including approximately 508 million U.S. dollars in 2023. Known for its innovation, DuPont has developed several groundbreaking products, including Kevlar, Tyvek, and Teflon. The company's portfolio is diverse, serving sectors such as automotive, construction, energy, military and law enforcement, and packaging. Despite its many successful products, DuPont has also faced scrutiny over the environmental and health impacts of some of its chemical innovations. The company's brand value has seen fluctuations, reaching its lowest recorded value of nearly two billion U.S. dollars in January 2021. Despite these challenges, DuPont seems to have made a remarkable recovery, and in 2024, it was recognized as the most robust chemical brand globally with a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 84.5.
