Mexico's oil production experienced an overall declining tendency over the past decade, dipping below two million barrels per day in recent years. In comparison to the average 3.2 million daily barrels reported in 2008, this represents a decline of nearly 40 percent. In parallel, Mexico's oil reserves have also been on a mostly downward trend since the 1990's.
