E.ON's sales revenue FY 2004-2023
In the financial year 2023, the German electric utility service provider E.ON reported annual sales revenue of roughly 93.7 billion euros. The sales revenue of the company doubled between 2021 and 2022, reaching one of the highest figures of the period under consideration. E.ON is one of the largest companies worldwide based on revenue.
Spin-offs and acquisitions
E.ON saw significant revenue growth between the years 2004 and 2012, reaching 132 billion euros in the latter year. In 2015, however, E.ON's revenue dropped to approximately 43 billion euros. The dramatic decline can be explained by the spin-off of the company Uniper in 2015, which was formed by the separation of E.ON’s fossil fuel assets. This split left the company with renewables, energy networks, and services. A few years later, in 2020, E.ON transferred its renewable energy generation business to RWE.
Power sales of E.ON
Due to the spin-off, E.ON power sales inevitably fell in 2016 to 141.8 kilowatt-hours. By 2018, sales had fallen to under 130 kilowatt-hours. Despite this, E.ON is still the third leading European utility based on power sales, with spin-off Uniper in second place.
