In 2023, the box office revenue in Mexico amounted to around 15.6 billion Mexican pesos, up from 12 billion pesos one year before – an annual increase of 30 percent. Since the drastic drop in revenues caused by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the Mexican box office market is slowly inching back to pre-pandemic levels. However, the box office revenue share generated by domestic movies in Mexico sees very slow recovery.
