The total value of lodging construction put in place in the United States has fluctuated significantly between 2008 and 2022. In 2008, the value of hotel construction peaked at 35.8 billion U.S. dollars, only to fall down to 9 billion U.S. dollars a couple of years later. In 2021 and 2022, the construction of hotels and other resorts was lower than before the start the COVID-19 pandemic.
