This statistic provides estimates and projections of food distribution gaps worldwide by region from 2011 to 2022. "Distribution gap" means the difference between projected food availability
and the food needed to increase consumption in food-deficit income
groups within individual countries to meet the recommended nutritional
target. In 2011, the estimated food distribution gap was 4.5 million tons in Asia.

The distribution gap: the difference between projected food availability

to be below the nutritional target.
