The United States, as the second most profitable smartphone market, is projected to reach 55.6 billion U.S. dollars in sales in 2017.

Android has consistently held a dominant position in smartphone sales worldwide over the last 10 years. In the first quarter of 2016, more Android devices were sold than Windows, iOS and Blackberry OS devices combined. Apple’s iOS operating system is currently the second most-used in the world. iPhone sales have risen strongly over the years. In the first quarter of 2017, Apple sold more than 78 million units of the iPhone, which accounted for roughly 69 percent of Apple’s total revenue.
