Survey respondents were from generation Y, aged 20 to 35 years old. 48 percent of survey respondents said that they preferred to get involved in activities where they could use their background experience.

Age group: 20 to 35. Focus groups of millennials - Date of focus groups: February 23,2012 to March 28, 2012. Number of focus groups: 3. Sample size: 27. Age group: 20 to 35. Online survey of nonprofit professionals - Date of survey: February 15, 2012 to April 3, 2012. Sample size: 89. Age group: 18 and older.
