This statistic shows the percentage of women aged 20 to 24 in 2011 who were first married before the age of 15, sorted by the regions they live in. In 2011, 18 percent of women living in South Asia were married for the first time when they were younger than 15.

Estimates are based on a subset of 105 countries, covering 90 percent of the 20–24-year-old female population of the developing world (excluding China, for which comparable data are not available). Regional estimates represent data from countries that cover at least 50 percent of the regional population. Data coverage was insufficient to calculate an average for industrialized countries.
