Pedestrian deaths in the United States in 2021 peaked among age groups in their 30s and among people in their late 50s and early 60s. The highest number of pedestrian fatalities was among 30 to 34 year-olds, where fatalities exceeded 700 people.

A pedestrian, as defined for the purpose of this statistic, is any person on foot, walking, running, jogging, hiking, sitting or lying down who is involved in a motor vehicle traffic crash. For the purpose of this statistic a traffic crash is an incident that involves one or more vehicles where at least one vehicle is in-transport and the crash originates on a public traffic way. Crashes that occurred exclusively on private property, including parking lots and driveways, were excluded.
