In 2023, there were an estimated 8.66 million employees working within franchise businesses in the United States. The number of employees in franchise establishments in the United States increased steadily between 2013 and 2019. In 2020, however, employment in franchising organizations decreased by nearly one million compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 7.5 million.
