Exelon Corporation's operating revenue reached a peak in financial year 2021, surpassing 36.3 billion U.S. dollars. The Chicago-based electric utility announced in 2021 the company's separation into two publicly-traded companies - Exelon Utilities and Constellation Energy Corp. The former will comprise the transmission and distribution business through six utilities while the latter will be the power generation and customer-facing energy businesses. For this reason, the operating revenue of Exelon dropped below 20 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. However, in 2023, the operating revenue increases to 21.7 billion U.S. dollars.
