A diverted flight is one that left from the scheduled departure airport but flew to a destination point other than the scheduled destination point. The number of carriers reporting beginning in 2010 is 18. The number of carriers reporting in previous years is as follows: 2016 (12); 2015 (13, 14 through June after which American and US Airways began joint reporting); 2014 (14); 2013 (16); 2012 (15); 2011(16); 2010 (18); 2009 (19); 2008 (19; 20 through February after which Aloha Airlines ceased reporting); 2007(20); 2006 ( 20; 19 through March after which Aloha Airlines started reporting for the second time)); 2005 (20; 19 through April after which Frontier Airlines started reporting); 2004 (19); 2003 (17; 18 starting in November when Hawaiian Airlines started reporting); 2002 (10); 2001(12; 11 starting in November when Aloha Airlines ceased reporting for the first time); 2000: (10; 11 starting in November when Aloha Airlines started reporting for the first time); 1999 (10); 1998 (10); 1997 (10); 1996 (10); and 1995 (10).
