Whilst trends vary across each subsector in the print publishing market when it comes to the number of establishments still in operation, steady negative growth is most evident among directory and mailing list publishers. There were just 653 such establishments in 2019, down from over one thousand in 2014. Newspaper publishers are also visibly struggling, with their numbers dropping from almost 7.5 thousand in 2016 to 6,797 in 2019.
