In the United States, roughly half of surveyed physicians reported experiencing burnout, while nearly a third described themselves experiencing clinical depression. Despite these high rates, only a small share of physicians have sought treatment. Among physicians who said they had experienced burnout and/or depression, only 15 percent and 11 percent said they currently or plan to seek professional help for burnout and for depression, respectively.
