Self-gifting is much more common among younger generations than it is among older consumers. According to a survey conducted in 2024, nearly two-thirds of consumers aged 18 to 24 years intended to buy themselves a gift during the holidays. In comparison, only about one in five consumers over the age of 54 planned to do the same.
