In 2023, the majority share of individuals surveyed in South Africa stated that they were not at all interested in politics, at 37 percent. A lesser share of 13 percent said they were very interested in politics. Since 2013, the survey results have remained relatively similar.

According to the source, the survey is nationally representative of the private household population across the nine South African provinces. Five hundred small area layers (SALs) were selected using census 2011 framework.
