As of the third quarter of 2024, there were over 234,000 requests by the South Korean government to restrict websites. If granted, access to the websites could be blocked in South Korea, deleted entirely, or other measures taken. South Korea passed its first internet censorship law, the Telecommunications Business Act, in 1995. Afterward, there were many revisions to those regulations.
