In 2021, the aggregated total household income of the top percentile of earners in Israel reached approximately 129 billion Israeli shekels, around 34 billion U.S. dollar. This reflected an increase of about 22 percent compared to the previous year. There was a steady rise in aggregated incomes during the observed period, with a peak in 2017 at 152.3 billion Israeli shekels, around 40.2 billion U.S. dollars. This was due to a one-time tax incentive introduced by the government to release "trapped" capital gains tax.
