In 2022, the price of unbranded generic prescription drugs in the United States was approximately a third of the average price of unbranded generic drugs in the OECD. For example, the prices in the United States represented only 39 percent of the prices in Canada, 51 percent of the prices in Mexico, and 56 percent of the prices in Germany.
