An August 2024 survey analyzed the opinions of Europeans on the amount of international tourists who visit their local area. As of that month, roughly a third of the sample in Spain said that there were too many inbound tourists in their local area. While 18 percent of respondents in France reported the same, around three in ten surveyed Italians believed that there were not enough international tourists.

¹ Total survey count. The number of respondents by country was as follows: 2,189 in Great Britain, 1,013 in France, 2,301 in Germany, 1,026 in Denmark, 1,021 in Sweden, 1,060 in Spain, and 1,011 in Italy.
The source phrased the survey question as follows: "And thinking about your local area again, would you say the number of international tourists it receives is too many, not enough or about the right amount?".
