Demand for graphite by strategic sectors in the European Union (EU) such as renewable energy and e-mobility is forecast to increase 14-fold in 2030 in comparison to 2020. Similarly, the EU's lithium demand for strategic sectors is expected to increase by 12 times over the same timeframe.
Indeed, more than 90 percent of the EU's demand for nickel, graphite, cobalt, and lithium comes from electric vehicle battery production.
