A survey conducted among journalists in India in 2023, revealed that 45 percent of the respondents had experienced discrimination at their workplace based on their political opinion at least once. It was also found that a higher share of independent journalists perceived discrimination of this nature compared to those who worked in news organizations. A fair share of the surveyed journalists also expressed a fear of losing their jobs due to their political leanings.
