As of July 2024, the United States-based company Xcimer Energy planned to start commercial operations of fusion reactors with a capacity between 300 and 2,000 gigawatts electric by mid-2030s. This was the largest projected capacity of fusion reactors in the world. Xcimer was also one of the largest investors in fusion energy worldwide as of that year.
