In the school year 2022/2023, of the over 265,000 pre-primary students, almost 88,000 lived in Northern Portugal. The region with the second-highest number of pre-primary students in Portugal was Greater Lisbon, with 58,000. In the mainland territory, Alentejo had the lowest student number.
