In the first quarter of 2024, the total volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Israeli seaports decreased to about 12.9 million metric tons. Between the third quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2024, cargo traffic fell by almost 20 percent. With the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023, international shipping in the country has been impacted. Most significantly affected, was shipping to the Southern port of Eilat, which was targeted in multiple attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen.
