In 2023, employees in Switzerland have worked an average of 31.2 hours per week. Men, on average, worked 35.5 hours, while women worked approximately 26.3 hours. The average workload for women only showed small fluctuations, whereas the workload for men has decreased from 38 hours in 2012 to just over 36 hours in 2023.
According to the source, the actual hours worked correspond to the number of hours actually worked in gainful employment. They differ from normal working hours in that overtime is included in the calculation of actual working hours, while absences are excluded.
