During the first round of the French legislative elections in 2024, around 35 percent of the registered voters did not vote. However, abstention varied depending on age groups. For instance, abstention was higher among youth compared to older age groups. Indeed, almost 50 percent of voters aged 25-34 did not vote, while voters aged 70 and older were only 20 percent to abstain.
