Europe: battery-electric car sales distribution by vehicle segment 2018-2023

Until 2020, medium cars were the most popular segment within the European battery-electric vehicle (BEV) market. These were taken over by sport-utility vehicles in 2021. By 2023, SUVs made up over half of the BEV sales in Europe, while medium cars accounted for over a quarter of the market.
