In 2023, approximately 72.4 percent of households in Brazil had food security, while the remaining 27.6 percent experienced some level of food insecurity: Mild (when people were uncertain about obtaining food), moderate (when the adults in a household had their access to food reduced), or severe (when also the children had a reduced access to food). A decade earlier, in 2013, the food security levels reached over 77 percent of Brazilian households.
