A survey held on AI and journalism in August 2023 in the United States found that adults were mostly united on their attitude to using AI to create deepfakes in journalism, with the majority saying that this would not be morally acceptable. Democrats were less likely to feel this way than other voters, with 56 percent saying they did not think this would be acceptable behavior, compared to close to 70 percent of Republicans.
