The pink-haired character, which is present on YouTube, Twitch, and bilibili, was launched in 2018 by Hololive Productions, a Japanese virtual YouTuber agency. Virtual YouTuber Usada Pekora, known on YouTube by her channel's name Pekora, debuted in 2018 and as Miko, was crated and is managed by the virtual creators' agency Hololive. Third-ranked Kuzuha is a male VTuber associated with the Japanese NIJISANJI, another popular virtual YouTuber agency.
