In 2022, there were over 9,000 station-based shared bikes available across Italy. This was a decline from its peak in 2019 when there were nearly 10,900 bikes available.
In station-based bike-sharing schemes, hired bikes have to be returned to the station from which they were picked up or dropped off at another designated hire station.
