In the 22nd National Assembly election held in South Korea on April 10, 2024, the liberal opposition won a landslide victory, with the Democratic Party (DP) garnering 161 seats through direct elections in local districts. The ruling People Power Party (PPP) won 90 seats. The highest number of seats won by the DP was in Gyeonggi Province with 53, followed by the city of Seoul with 37 seats.
