In the 22nd National Assembly election held in South Korea on April 10, 2024, the liberal opposition won a landslide victory, with the Democratic Party (DP) garnering 161 seats through direct elections in local districts. The ruling People Power Party (PPP) won 90 seats. Together with the seats won by its satellite party through proportional representation, the DP secured a total of 175 seats in the 300-member unicameral parliament. The conservative alliance between the PPP and its satellite party won 108 seats.
