Parents' beliefs on how gender identity is taught in school U.S. 2022, by party
In 2022, Republican parents were more likely than Democrats to believe that children should be taught in school that whether someone is a boy or a girl is determined by sex at birth, with 44 percent of Republican parents in the United States sharing this belief. In contrast, parents who identified as Democrats were more likely to believe that children should be taught that someone can be a boy or a girl even if that's different from sex at birth. Republican parents were also more likely than Democrats to believe that children should not learn about gender identity in school at all.
