The total investment value in fintech in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) dropped sharply in 2023, reaching 24.5 billion U.S. dollars. This was roughly half the amount of total funding in 2022. The decrease in funding was particularly sharp in the M&A segment, but venture capital investment dropped notably as well. Private equity investment, on the other hand, more than doubled, reaching almost eight billion U.S. dollars.
