In 2022, over 80 percent of all the ransomware that was treated by the Italian technical and operational offices of the Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale (Italian National Cybersecurity Agency) targeted the private sector. In comparison, 18 percent of the ransomware reported to the Italian official cybersecurity agency targeted the public sector.
