The production of liquid biofuels worldwide amounted to about 2.2 million barrels per day in 2022. Global liquid biofuels production is projected to grow over the next decade, reaching some 5.6 million barrels per day in 2030 under the net-zero emissions by 2050 (NZE) scenario. This would represent an increase of roughly 155 percent when compared to 2022 levels. While liquid biofuels production is forecast to increase, projected liquid fuels production is expected to decrease.
