Delhi had the highest monthly minimum wage for unskilled workers at over 17 thousand Indian rupees, the highest among other states and union territories. It was followed by Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The national floor level minimum wage in India in 2023 was 178 Indian rupees per day, remaining consistent for the last few years. The National Floor Level Minimum Wage (NFLMW) is the minimum wage below which no state government can fix the minimum wage. Different states set their minimum wages. The NFLMW was brought into effect in 1996 by the Indian central government.
