According to a July 2023 survey, Portuguese consumers were the consumers among selected European countries which had most noticed a large increase in new car prices. Just over half of Portuguese respondents reported a large increase in the price of new cars, compared to 29 percent of Dutch respondents.

Original survey question: "Have you noticed an increase in prices for the following goods and services over the last twelve months?"
Results include respondents in selected countries who have answered "Yes, a large increase" and "yes, a modest increase" to the original survey question regarding new car prices. For this reason, results will not equal 100 percent.
Respondents came from national samples from each country. The quota approach was employed to ensure that the sample was representative of gender and age.
The survey was sent to 3,000 respondents in France and 800 respondents in every other country.
