Among the selected European countries, survey respondents in Portugal have the most favorable perception of Japanese car brands, with 90 percent of them reporting having a very good or somewhat good opinion of the brand. On the other hand, 26 percent of Belgian respondents have a very poor or somewhat poor opinion of Japanese car brands, which is the highest among the selected European countries.

Original survey question: "Do you have a good or poor opinion of cars of brands from Japan?"
Respondents came from national samples from each country. The quota approach was employed to ensure that the sample was representative of gender and age.
3,000 interviews were done in France and 800 in each of the other countries. The results displayed include respondents who said they had a very good opinion or somewhat good opinion of car brands from the selected region or country.
