In 2023, Europe accounted for nearly half of the total value of green, social, sustainability, and sustainability-linked (GSSS) bonds issued worldwide. Europe has been the leading issuer of GSSS bonds since their inception. Asia-Pacific was the second-largest contributor to GSSS issuance, accounting for 24 percent of the total in 2023.
