According to a survey conducted in the United Kingdom in 2023, Facebook was the most popular social media platform for consuming local news for 59 percent of respondents. Twitter outranked Facebook as the top used social media platform when it came to breaking news and UK news, with a share of 61 percent and 68 percent respectively. However, Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat were the most used platforms for celebrity news.
