According to a survey conducted in 2023, 54 percent of Americans said that a major reason for why there are fewer women than men in high political offices in the United States is that women have to do more to prove themselves than men. A further 47 percent said that women in politics facing gender discrimination and women getting less support from party leaders were major reasons for there being less women than men in high political offices.
