In 2021, an estimated 24.1 percent of women in Argentina experienced anxiety and depression. This was the case for around 16.8 percent of men. From 2010 to 2021, prevalence of psychological discomfort in Argentina has been higher among women, hovering around 21 percent at its lowest point in 2010 and reaching its peak in 2020 (27.1 percent). For men, the lowest prevalence of psychological discomfort was recorded in 2017 (15.1 percent) and the highest in 2013 (19.8 percent). Psychological discomfort refers to an inadequacy of emotional capabilities, reflected in anxious and depressive symptoms. According to a survey carried out in 2022, around four in every ten Argentineans considered mental health among the biggest health problems facing people in their country.
