According to a survey held in June 2023, adults aged 55 years or above were the most likely group to have at least one paid online news subscription, with 13 percent saying they had one and five percent saying they paid for two. The majority did not pay, however, in line with their younger peers. Those aged 35 to 54 years were the least likely to have an online news subscription.
