A summer 2023 survey found that the majority of Canadians agreed that by Bill C-18 would be most detrimental to smaller news broadcasters and organizations, with 66 percent saying that they agreed or strongly agreed with that statement. Only a small share disagreed that smaller outlets would be harmed the most by the legislation, whereas over 20 percent were unsure of the potential effects.
